The Story Behind Lexington Jewelers
My journey in jewelry began in 1997, when I took a jewelry-making class as an elective in junior college. What started as a class quickly became a passion and, eventually, a lifelong craft. After completing my jewelry education in 2000, I continued learning and earning additional certifications over the years. Today, I have nearly 30 years of experience doing what I love: making jewelry.
In 2020, I decided to take a leap of faith and open a jewelry store of my own. I invested my life savings into building the store I had always dreamed of. After three months of hard work, I was ready to open the doors. Then the pandemic hit.
I never even got the chance to open that store. With my savings gone and no way to keep the business going, I was forced to put my tools into storage and, almost overnight, found myself without a home.
But I wasn’t ready to give up.
I decided to bet on myself one more time. With the help of Adina Tatum, who gave me the opportunity to get started at Julietta Market in Greyline Station, I opened an 8-by-8-foot open-air booth where I performed ring sizing and jewelry repairs while customers watched. It wasn’t the store I had dreamed of, but it gave me something far more important: a chance to keep doing what I loved.
The little booth worked. Two and a half years later, I moved into our storefront at 134 W. Third Street in downtown Lexington. I didn’t have the resources to recreate the elaborate store I’d originally built, so I focused on what mattered most – my craftsmanship, my customers, and building something that could grow.
Since then, I’ve put every dollar I could back into the business. Today, Lexington Jewelers is growing, I’m able to bring other craftsmen onto the team, and I’m still doing what I set out to do from the beginning: making and repairing jewelry right here in Lexington.
That matters to me because I believe jewelry is personal. An engagement ring, an anniversary gift, a family heirloom, or a piece created to celebrate a new chapter in someone’s life deserves more than an impersonal transaction. It deserves craftsmanship, attention, and a relationship with the person making it.
That’s why we make and repair our jewelry in-house. From traditional hand fabrication and lost-wax casting to modern CAD design and 3D printing, we use whatever techniques are needed to bring an idea to life. Every piece is hand finished, and every gemstone is hand set by our craftsmen. From a simple repair to a complex custom creation, we want to be involved from start to finish.
I moved to Lexington from San Diego over a decade ago, and this community has become home. I love the people, the culture, and the opportunity Lexington provides to build a life and a business. I’m proud to be part of this community, and I’m even prouder to have built Lexington Jewelers here.
There have been plenty of unexpected turns along the way, but I wouldn’t change the journey. What started with a jewelry class in 1997 has become a business built on craftsmanship, perseverance, and the belief that the jewelry you treasure should always have something personal behind it.

I cannot say enough things about Ed! He is incredible. He’s truly a craftsman, his work can speak for itself. He can take any vision and turn it into something stunning. I had an issue with my engagement ring that I purchased from another retailer having a loose poorly set stone, They were unable to secure the stone and told me that it was a little loose. I took it to Ed and he fixed it immediately. We chose our wedding bands. My engagement ring was a unique Twist and Ed custom built a band that he melted from my aunts set and I got to watch that part!

Truthfully we primarily picked this place for the cute puppy, but we were so thrilled with the service and expertise that Ed and his team gave us! excellent experience with ring resizing! though i was disappointed the back of the ring needed to be replaced, i was really thankful to have their expertise. when i picked it up, he showed me that you could literally snap what was the old band in half with your fingers! he also showed me a gorgeous custom piece he’s been working on so if you’re wanting something unique i would highly recommend checking them out for that too! goldie is also a huge plus, she’s such a precious angel and i would stay there and pet her all day if i could
